PBH Websites Win Awards

Kids' Site Receives Two Nods while Consumer Site Garners One

Wilmington, DE, August 17, 2009

Produce for Better Health Foundation (PBH) is pleased to announce that two of its websites have won awards. PBH's kids' website, www.foodchamps.org, has received two national awards, while its consumer oriented site, www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org, nabbed another.

The Food Champs website was recently reviewed in the "Surfing the Net with Kids" newspaper column.  This nationally syndicated column, written by Barbara J. Feldman, appears in many papers across the U.S., including the San Diego Union-Tribune and The Boston Globe.  Feldman also features www.foodchamps.org on her website, Surfing the Net with Kids.

The second award comes in the form of a partner badge from Education.com.  Education.com recognizes the top non-profit organizations and educational institutions in the country with its partner badges. In bestowing this award on www.foodchamps.com, the group said that the resources PBH makes available have had a powerful and positive effect on kids and families.

The development of FoodChamps.org was a collaborative project with Imagination Farms, Kidzsmart, and PBH and was made possible by a generous donation from Imagination Farms and an in-kind contribution from Kidzsmart.

PBH's consumer website, www.fruitsandveggiesmorematters.org, also received an award, the Visionary Award for Technology Excellence from Miles Technology. This award was given in recognition of the website's leadership in significantly improving performance, productivity, and efficiency by implementing intelligent business technologies.

"PBH is pleased that the Food Champs website has been recognized for the positive influence it has on kids," said Elizabeth Pivonka, Ph.D., R.D., president and CEO of PBH. "These awards show that PBH's online presence is being effective while supporting the Fruits & Veggies-More Matters® national public health initiative."
