Before joining Welch’s, I was very intrigued by the Co-op ownership as opposed to the internationally-controlled corporations that I have worked for in the past. Since starting at Welch’s, the advantages of the Co-op ownership have shone through. I feel that this type of structure allows for a more flexible organization that understands employees are individual people instead of a number.

My role allows me to touch new areas of the organization each day. Many of my colleagues are striving to improve how they do business on a continuous basis. This drive to improve keeps the work interesting and leaves you with a true sense of accomplishment. I see a huge benefit in Welch’s putting a premium on entrepreneurial behavior and rewarding those who can “default to go” when it comes to identifying a need for improvement and working collaboratively to find a solution.

I joined the Welch’s family immediately out of college. I say the Welch’s “family” because that is truly how it feels to work here. Welch’s understands the importance of family and treats its employees as such. With flexible work schedules and benefits, it understands the importance of having a balanced work/life structure.

As part of a cooperative, you become immersed in the culture of Family Farmer Owned. This is especially important to me because I grew up in a small farming town in western New York and can appreciate the hard work and dedication that farming takes. I am so proud to work for Welch’s because of our commitment to not only deliver the most delicious tasting products, but also our commitment to the American family farmer.

At Welch’s, there is a tremendous sense of pride in the brand and in the products. Unlike a public company, Welch’s is owned by 1,100 grape growers as opposed to public shareholders. It is incredibly rewarding to know that you are contributing to their success.

Welch’s is a big enough company to offer the opportunity to grow professionally, but small enough that each employee can really make a difference. The best part of my job is knowing that I can make a positive influence within my department and the company as a whole.

Welch’s is more than a company - it is “real grapes grown by real people.” I manage sales in a geographic portion of the West & Midwest that lends itself to a very diverse customer and consumer base that is challenging but rewarding.
