Scope

The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of the monthly financial reporting package and provides assistance as necessary.  The Senior Accountant provides guidance and direction to two (2) Staff Accountants.  The Senior Accountant works closely with the Sales Division and analyzes trade expenses on a monthly basis to ensure accurate and timely reporting.  The Senior Accountant works closely with the International Division and prepares the monthly reporting package for the Company’s UK and China business partners.  The Senior Accountant manages requests for information in conjunction with the external audit and serves as a liaison between the Company and its external auditors.  The Senior Accountant works closely with the Corporate Planning Department to prepare the Long Range Plan for administrative expenses.  The Senior Accountant plays a key role in the preparation of the Annual Report.

Job Responsibilities

  • Monthly close – The Senior Accountant is responsible for the preparation of the monthly reporting package, which includes reviewing those portions prepared by staff accountants and providing assistance as necessary.  The Senior Accountant also ensures the closing of all Oracle Modules in a timely manner.
  • Account Reconciliations – The Senior Accountant is responsible for the timely reconciliation of key balance sheet accounts.
  • Coordinate External Audit – The Senior Accountant coordinates the preparation of supporting schedules and manages information requests from the external auditors.  The Senior Accountant acts as the “go-to person” with our external auditors.
  • Develops Staff – The Senior Accountant provides guidance and direction to two (2) Staff Accountants.
  • Preparation of the Monthly Trade Analysis – The Senior Accountant works closely with the Sales Division to prepare a monthly analysis of trade expenses.
  • Preparation of the Long Range Plan (LRP) – The Senior Accountant works with the Corporate Planning Department to prepare the LRP for administrative expenses.  The Senior Accountant interacts with many levels of management throughout the Company to obtain relevant information regarding key assumptions and drivers underlying administrative expenses.  The Senior Accountant performs due diligence to ensure assumptions used in the development of the LRP are reasonable.
  • Annual Report – The Senior Accountant assists in the preparation of the Company’s Annual Report by performing research on new accounting pronouncements, updating related footnotes, and preparing financial statements and supporting schedules.
  • General Ledger Maintenance – The Senior Accountant is responsible for general ledger maintenance, including setting up new general ledger accounts, inactivating unused or unnecessary accounts, and re-naming accounts.  The Senior Accountant also works with the Corporate IS Department to maintain general ledger security.
  • Preparation of Ad-hoc Reporting and Analysis – The Senior Accountant assists in the completion of ad-hoc projects and analyses as requested.  The Senior Accountant also serves on cross-functional teams to promote process improvements.

JOB REQUIREMENTS/SKILLS:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting with 3-5 years experience, including at least 2 years of experience in a supervisory role.  Public accounting experience is a plus.
  • Intermediate to advanced knowledge of accounting/financial concepts, practices and procedures.
  • CPA and or MBA a plus
  • PC Skills – Microsoft Excel, Word, Outlook
  • Knowledge of Oracle financial software a plus
  • Ability to work independently to meet tight deadlines and goals
  • Ability to provide guidance and direction for Staff Accountants
  • Attention to detail
  • Good teamwork, communication, interpersonal and analytical skills
