Welch's 100% Grape Juice,
made from Welch's own Concord Grapes

The Power of Purple in Every Sip!

At the heart of Welch's 100% Grape Juice is the goodness of the Concord grape. This little purple fruit provides a powerful and unrivaled combination of great taste and health benefits. It's not only delicious, but is also loaded with natural plant nutrients which act as powerful antioxidants and may be protective of our health in a variety of ways.

Nutrition experts tell us that an assortment of colorful fruits and vegetables in our diets will ensure we get a wide variety of healthful plant nutrients. While many of us don't eat enough fruits and vegetables in general, it is the purple/blue category that is the most underrepresented. Only three percent of Americans' fruit and vegetable intake is from the purple/blue category,1 which means people are missing out on some of the valuable plant nutrients specific to this color group. Within the purple/blue category, juice from Concord grapes provides an amazing amount of these important plant nutrients, and it's an easy way to get your purple everyday!

Welch's 100% Grape Juice is made from Welch's own Concord grapes with no sugar added.
The Concord grape is a wonderful and hardy grape variety that is prized for its delicious, deep purple juice. Welch's is an agricultural cooperative, and our grape grower-owners actually grow and harvest the rich purple Concord grapes that we use to make Welch's 100% Grape Juice. The delicious taste and natural sweetness of Welch's 100% Grape Juice comes only from the grapes – there is absolutely NO sugar added.

When the fresh Concord grapes are pressed into juice, an abundance of natural plant compounds are naturally released from the purple grape skins and seeds. A growing body of research suggests that these same plant compounds, which help protect the grapes from the harshness of the environment, may also help protect our health.

Because Welch's Grape Juice is 100% juice made from grapes, it counts as fruit in your diet. Just 4 ounces counts as one serving (or ½ cup) of fruit.

Welch's 100% Grape Juice is abundant in natural antioxidant power!
Concord grapes contain natural plant compounds called polyphenols and, in particular, contain a subgroup of polyphenols called flavonoids. These flavonoids are known to function as potent natural antioxidants. Antioxidants are helpful to us because they help protect our cells from the damaging effects of unstable molecules called free radicals. Welch's 100% Grape Juice made from Concord grapes is a natural antioxidant superfood – with more than twice the natural antioxidant power of orange juice.2 The importance of eating foods that are naturally rich in antioxidants, to help us maintain long-term health, is an expanding area of focus for nutrition science and research today. Welch's 100% Grape Juice can help promote a healthy heart and arteries and more!
Drinking Welch's 100% Grape Juice helps promote a healthy cardiovascular system. Preliminary research suggests that the natural polyphenols found in Concord Grape Juice may function not only as antioxidants but in other ways in the body as well to help protect our health. In initial studies, Concord grape juice promoted the flexibility of arteries, which is important to allow increased blood flow when needed, such as during exercise, shoveling snow, and climbing stairs.3,4,5 Flexible arteries also play an important role in promoting healthy blood pressure. Researchers are continuing to explore the heart-health aspects of Concord grape juice and are now exploring other promising areas of health research as well – to find out more, visit Heart Health & More.
