The award will be presented at the Hunger's Hope Awards Dinner during the Second Harvest National Conference in San Diego on June 29. Award recipients are selected based upon their active participation in Second Harvest projects and disaster relief efforts, increased donations, prompt response and strong customer service relations. "Welch's has developed a strong and positive relationship with Second Harvest -- the largest, domestic hunger relief organization in the country," said Jim Callahan, director, Corporate Communications for Welch's. "We are committed to participating in the efforts of Second Harvest, donating high-quality products and maintaining a strong partnership." According to Martha Pickett, vice president at Second Harvest, "We are proud to be honoring Welch's. They were selected because of their continuing commitment to our network through product donations, support during disaster relief efforts and the many things that add up to being a true partner. Welch's is particularly cherished due to the nutritious juice products that are so appealing to the 11 million children we serve." Welch's, headquartered in Concord, Massachusetts, is the world's leading marketer of Concord and Niagara grape-based products, including grape juice and jelly. The company also produces a variety of other fruit-based products -- including blended fruit juices and cocktails, fruit juices in both the frozen concentrate and shelf-stable concentrate form, and an assortment of jams, jellies, and preserves under both the Welch's and BAMA brand names.
